La chaconne aléatoire (hommage à Erik Satie) combines traditional musical form with freedom and chance. The chaconne or ciaccona, usually based on an ostinato bass and a repeating harmonic scheme, here acquires an unexpectedly variable character thanks to aleatory elements - instead of a fixed structure, the music subtly changes depending on the decisions of the performers. The piece is also a study of the relationship between two players - their mutual interaction, interplay and unexpected clashes. The inspiration from Erik Satie is reflected not only in the playful approach to form and time, but also in the openness to chance and absurdity.
